“In the end I do respond to my own instincts. Sometimes they're successful, and obviously, sometimes they're not. But you have to, I think, remain true to what you believe in,” Anna Wintour said on CBS Sunday Morning in 2011. Wintour is considered one of the most powerful people in the fashion world — setting trends and fostering new talent. For the last 30 years, she has been editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine and in 2013 she was named artistic director of Condé Nast Publications. Wintour has presided over the Met Gala, one of the most prestigious events on the fashion calendar, since 1995. In 2014, she spearheaded the fashion industry’s involvement in Born Free Africa, an organization that aims to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV. In 2017 Wintour was made a dame by the Queen of England for her services to journalism and fashion.
