Celebrated actor Ann-Margret, born in 1941 in Valsobyn, Sweden, got her first break in show business when in the late 1950s she sang alongside George Burns at the Las Vegas Sahara Hotel. After releasing an album and appearing in a few films she established herself as a star actor with great sex appeal in the 1963 film "Bye Bye Birdie," then in 1964's "Viva Las Vegas" alongside Elvis Presley. It was in 1971's "Carnal Knowledge" that she won respect as a serious actor, earning an Academy Award nomination and has since enjoyed a long career in film, television and theater. Updated 2007
