From humble beginnings as an illegal immigrant and migrant farm worker, Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa overcame the odds when he was accepted to Harvard Medical School. He went on to join Johns Hopkins as a professor and surgeon specializing in brain cancer and pituitary tumors. His research is directed toward finding a cure for brain cancer. His inspirational autobiography Becoming Dr. Q, was published in 2011. Updated 2011
