Alejandro Mayorkas was sworn in as Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security in 2013. Prior to that, he was appointed by President Obama in 2009 to as director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, where he implemented Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and other important reforms to safeguard national security. He was also a partner in the law firm O’Melveny and Myers and was named one of the “50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America” by the National Law Journal. Updated 2013
