Constanza Lafuente is a program analyst in the Corporation’s Education program, where she supports the Leadership and Teaching to Advance Learning portfolio.
Lafuente has extensive experience working in elementary and early childhood education. Prior to joining the Corporation, she worked at Bank Street College of Education, where she coached and trained teachers and school leaders implementing New York City’s Pre-K for All. At Bank Street, she also coached and supervised a cohort of math facilitators for a randomized controlled trial of an early-math curricula implemented by the social policy research organization MDRC. Previously she conducted qualitative research on education nonprofits and taught a graduate course on the role of nongovernmental organizations in international educational development at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Lafuente was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she worked as the director of Junior Achievement of Argentina’s Elementary School Program. In that position she oversaw the design of new curricula; trained and coached volunteers; and supervised content strategy, design, delivery, and evaluation of elementary school economics courses.
Beginning her studies in Buenos Aires, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science at the Universidad del Salvador and a master’s degree in nonprofit organizations at the Universidad de San JuanAndrés. She then earned a Master of Science in public policy in Latin America at the University of Oxford before going on to obtain her PhD in comparative and international education with a discipline focus in political science at Teachers College. Lafuente was awarded a Shell Centenary Scholarship for her graduate studies in the U.K., and a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue her doctoral studies in New York.
