Organization to Improve
How Big Districts Recruit, Maintain Talent
How
school districts recruit, develop and manage teachers and key administrators,
is key to boosting student achievement. A new organization, funded
in part by Carnegie Corporation, focuses on transforming how the
country’s largest districts manage their human resources.
Called Strategic Management
of Human Capital, the multi-donor funded organization, will
develop and advocate for the implementation of human resources management
strategies that can improve both instruction and student achievement.

release.
A task force led by prominent educators and political leaders will
document successful strategies in recruiting, developing, rewarding
and retaining talent through in-depth case studies of districts
engaged in human resources reform, as well as national organizations
working on providing high-quality teachers and leaders to high-need
schools—and the related changes in school district operations
to put those actions into place.
