The Brookings Institution

The Brookings Institution began with the merger of the Institute for Government Research (IGR), the Institute of Economics, which was founded by Robert Somers Brookings—with the support of a $1 million grant from the Corporation—and a graduate school named for Brookings. Brookings scholars conduct nonpartisan research and analysis on a wide range of public policy issues.
