SEEDS Pamphlet Series

SEEDS is a pamphlet series published under the aegis of the Population Council and originally created with support from Carnegie Corporation and the Ford Foundation. The pamphlets are designed to meet requests from all over the world for information about innovative and practical program ideas aimed at addressing the economic roles and needs of low-income women in developing countries and are intended to help spark new initiatives based on the positive experiences of efforts that help women generate livelihoods and improve their economic status. The projects described in the pamphlets are selected because they serve not only to strengthen women’s productive roles, but also to integrate women into various sectors of development, both social and economic. All projects documented in the SEEDS series involve women in decision-making roles and highlight successful efforts to organize women locally as well as address broader policy issues that affect the economic roles of women in development.
